Here, we are in a villa nestling in the hills of Provence, looking towards the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The owner was born in the region and was looking to create a wine cellar in the traditional style. As local stone was to be found throughout the house and in the surrounding area, it was also used in the cellar as a focus for the attention.
All the components of an elegant, functional wine cellar are to be found here: sliding trays for cases, sliding display units for bottles, fixed storage, resting places for bottles and magnums, back-lighting… And there’s an extra feature: sliding shale shelves, stain-resistant and inlaid with copper pyrites are fitted around the edge of the cellar and used for handling and manoeuvring wooden cases.
