Environment

The owner of this apartment in Knokke didn’t have a cellar, just a garage for a car. And this was the place he handed over to us for his new wine cellar. The car now spends its nights outside as there’s no room for it in this attractive long, narrow cellar, which now houses some 3200 bottles.

Special characteristics

With the sea nearby and a high level of salt in the air, we opted for a tailor-made wine cellar in padouk. Some of the sliding trays are fitted with back-lighting to highlight the different colour variations in his collection of Château d’Yquem. The wooden cases containing Château Haut Brion and Romanée Conti required special sliding trays to hold the non-standard cases.
